The Grand Hotel Villa Politi in Siracusa is unique in Italy thanks to its very special surroundings. Built literally upon the Latomie dei Cappuccini, this stunning Liberty style villa is actually in one of Sicily’s oldest historical archaeological sites. A network of caves carved into the rock of a naturally occurring amphitheatre in the cliffs of Siracusa’s coastline, the Latomie dei Cappuccini were used to imprison Athenian soldiers in around 413 BC.
